Potters Bar Synchronised Swimming Club

yellow pbssc logo

Potters Bar Synchronised Swimming Club was founded in 1978 by Colin Lushington at the Potters Bar Pool - now Furzefield Leisure Centre. Training was on Saturdays from 12 noon to 1pm, Annual Membership was £5.00 and the weekly fee was just 35p.

Although things have changed quite a bit since then, we still aim to offer a safe and fun environment for our swimmers. In the past the Club has employed a Chief Coach but at present is being run by a Coaching Committee. Coaches are trained on poolside by existing coaches and then attend a course to gain a recognised qualification if they so wish. Many of the senior girls will also help with juniors during sessions and also turn to coaching when they finish their swimming career.

Following recent changes in synchro nationally, the club has opted to follow the Recreational strand of the sport as opposed to the Competitive strand. We still compete in regional and national competitions but only against other Recreational clubs.
